Ok, tonight we planted the garden. It was crucial to get it in because time was of essence per Nick. Gardening is HARD work! Tomorrow I will not be able to move. We put in tomato plants, pepper plants, zuccini squash, summer squash, wildflowers, lettuce, beets, OKRA - YES OKRA, pole beans (don't ask me what the difference is between a "bean" and a pole bean - all taste the same to me. I love vegetables and I am ready for Dianne Morgan (our friend) to teach me how to can all this stuff.
All I can say is BAMBI had best take his family elsewhere and not come around when it starts to grow. I do believe though that there are about 9 deer that cross through our backyard on a regular basis. The man at the store said Nick should sweat in a shirt and hang it on a stick so they smell it. Glad to hear B.O. is good for something.

LOL! We had a garden back in Mississippi too. I say "we", but to be completely honest Robert was the only one who tended it. Corn, tomatoes, snap beans, peppers, you name it he planted it. And it was a HUGE garden, almost the size of my classroom (and yes, I am an English teacher)! We had deer, raccoon, anything that crawled and ate vegtables. Eventually the creepy crawling things were winning the battle. All I know is I'm content to buy my veggies at Publix . . .
Pole beans...they climb up a pole.
Regular beans...they dont climb up a pole.
Got it?
And PS: My grandparents were farmers and my mother and aunts and grandmothe canned EVERYTHING under the sun. It was DELICIOUS...some of my favorite memories are of them canning and us eating!!
Yes, I work at Stan's Harley Davidson here in Batavia. It's a great time. If you tell me your shirt sizes I can grab a couple shirts for you and uncle Nick. I also took the Learn to Ride class. I should be receiveing my license in the mail here soon!
Keep in touch!

Patti, my new sources have it that "beans" have to climb a pole just like "pole" beans. There is no difference. But I am waiting for documented proof!
